Does Patriotism Still Matter?
Many courageous people through the history of this country have an important calling to fight for the freedom and safety of this country. People of the United States must honor and not forget them because sometimes these men and women don’t even make it home to live in their own freedom. Then there are normal people like you and I basking in safety and freedom formed over blood and time. We don’t even think about how these people made our country what it is now. A lot of citizens overlook what was done in the past and don’t think about the thousands of men and women slaughtered for the rights and safety of this country before our constitution or government was established.
Every day, everyone goes silent in the dim light of the morning and we all look to the flag with our hand placed over our hearts. In rhythm with all the other students we state the pledge of allegiance. We can’t just ignore the sacrifice people have made for our country. These groups of people symbolize the colors of our national American Flag. These colors stand for their enduring perseverance, purity, strength and the devotion for their country. They sacrifice their comfort and even their lives, but you don’t even think about why and who they are fighting this battle for? How can they not think about these people?? Shouldn’t you be grateful for your rights and safe homeland? Not every individual person in this cruel world has to opportunity to vote, or go to school. Around the world some get brutally killed if they practice their own religion or speak their opinion. Everyone should be thankful that you have these opportunities and rights, just because men and women risked their lives for their beloved country and all of the people living in it.
I love your vocabulary! It's very vivid.
ReplyDeleteAuthor's Note This a response to Meg's piece,"My Veteran's Essay"
ReplyDeleteYour voice really showed through this and it sounded like you really believed what you wrote. I love the sentence fluency and your very descriptive array of vocabulary(too many to point out). I hope you continue to write things like this piece. I know you don't really like to write essays and non-fiction, but you really showed that you could push yourself even for something you weren't really interested in.
