Speak

Speak is a book of many emotions, people and memories.  Dark, memories festering in Melinda’s mind driving people away from her.  This secret keeps her from sleeping at night, causing her emotional pain scaring her heart and physical pain to her.  She is always in a deep, depressed pain every day.  The hole ripped through her heart is unraveling from the edges and widening every day.  Her mind keeps her in a closed in little world all alone in a solitude jail of her own secret wrapping around her, tightening and keeping her captive.  High school is hard already, and her dark secret occupying her mind makes it even harder.  No one wants to be her friend, yet even look into her eyes processing the truth of the lies spreading and being turned into darker things against her.  The Ironic emotions of this book are depressing. Nothing is expected or good in this book. The memories of Melinda and the people filled with hate and lies just get worse and worse throughout the book no matter what is happening then and in the memories of the past.

  2. I liked you description of how depressed the girl was. Although, it seemed like you didn't identify the theme of the book. Still, this was a very good prompt, I liked it a lot.
