Bound by Silence

Author's note: This is just a poem I wrote inspired by the book I am reading right now.

The world is a dark place with my many shadows and sorrows piling up on me
No one cared
No one loved
There was no one for me
And I was no one

A dark hole clutched me
Consuming  me
Controlling me
Bounding me with the steel chains of the night

Standing up I didn’t care
The chains cluttered beside me
I was free

Nothing was in my way
The darkness and rain parted leaving a fresh meadow for me to live in
Grow
Passion and love swept up like a great wind
The cherry tree beside me swayed in the wind as I ran through the meadow

A smile reached my face and cries of joy erupted through me
Nothing could stop me

No one controlled me

No one kept me silent

I was free

  1. I really like poem because it has a good message. I agree that nothing is holding us back from doing our best except ourselves. I also like how the poem had a happy ending

  2. The first line didn't fit in with the piece, but otherwise it flowed well.

  3. You ended your poem nicely. I like how you transition from when you said you were being controlled to when you were free.

  4. This is particularly interesting. It's a bit of a departure for you from the usual material you write. I'm glad the author's note helps the reader know what the source of inspiration was. As a writer, what are you trying to do here in particular? Remember that the author's note is the forum for you to develop a better sense of self-awareness.
